Product Information
2040 is inspired by our winemaker's passion to create wines from high elevation vineyards, wines that are reflective of the apex of the land with our sights set on the highest peaks of the Cooley Ranch vineyards. This wine comprises Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the highest block of the wild and expansive Cooley Ranch in the far western reaches of Sonoma County. The block named Sky High sits 2,040 feet above sea level, towering above all neighboring peaks. Grapes up there look down on everything: Hawks surfing thermals in mid-air, mountains beyond mountains to the north, and the gentle waters of Lake Sonoma. The steep slopes of the vineyard force vines to dig deep into the soil for nutrients and water, ultimately resulting in thick-skinned grapes with bold yet complicated flavors. Winemaker Justin Seidenfeld has always longed to create a wine from one of these high-elevation vineyards. With 2040, he has fulfilled that dream.
